As a collector of over 800 Indian matchboxes—known as maachis in Hindi—my final project was a tribute to my love for Indian graphic design. These pocket-sized time capsules reflect rich visual histories, capturing themes like Bollywood, tourism, mythology, the freedom struggle, and everyday life. My aim was to deconstruct the matchbox as a cultural object—analyzing its imagery, symbols, color palettes, and typography—to build a visual language that celebrates India’s unique design sensibility and vibrant storytelling tradition.
